Anyone use vertical optical drive?

Well, it's a little tough to find a nice case under 15" high unless it's a tower/desktop unit that runs its optical drive vertically if it's in tower mode.

So, is it a PITA? Discs falling out regularly? Funny noises? No big deal?
I'm so used to horizontal operation, I worry about "going vertical". 😀

Depends on your optical drive. Most have the little clip/edge/thingies that help hold the cd in place. Some do not. Make sure you drive has the little holders before you try it, otherwise it will be a PITA...

I don't have any problems with mine though. 🙂

Do you find you have to put the discs in "just so"? At just the right angle or they drop out or rattle in the drive, etc.
You find you drop discs every so often?

Or is is really no big deal at all? I mean, if they made Playstation2 vertical, even kids should be able to do it without fuss, eh? 😀

It works fine for me (drives in sig) but somtimes you do drop them on the floor in the dark. That's just not being careful though. Other than that, it works fine.

I don't have any problems using vertical optical drives. You just place in your disc like normal and there are little plastics parts that just catch it so it doesn't tip out. I'm not talking about setting the little latches everytime you put in and take out a disc either.

Even if you don't have the clips, you should be fine. Just hold the disc in for a little bit and close the tray. After the tray goes halfway in, then it'll stay in that position. Just be remember to catch the disc each time you eject the tray because it will fall out without the clip. Hope this helps.
