Has anyone tried this Zalman PSU? What do you think RE cooling and quiet? Any comparisons to an Enermax Whisper 365VE(FC) or a PC Power and Cooling Silencer 275?
There is a review in german somewhere that compares the 300w zalman a enermax 350w i think and the antec pp412x - 400w....
Ranking them in quietness zalman < antec < enermax
The zalman is really efficent and has a huge heatsink in it so it doens't need a high cfm fan.
I was going to buy it but decided on getting the 400w pp412x which also is supposed to be efficient, and I replaced the fan in it with a panaflo la1 and now its way quiet and i'm happy.
I didn't get the zalman cause the case I was getting was $70 or with the pp412x was $120 so $50 for the ps, where the zalman woulda been $80 for the ps and $70 for hte case.
I couldn't find anything bad about the zalman powersupply tho.
I'm with Migroo- I wouldn't hesitate to try one, I just don't need one at the moment. Overall, Zalman seems to make high quality stuff, I doubt that their psu would be any different....
I wouldn't try to use one for a high heat system in an enclosure that depends heavily on the psu for cooling airflow, either.
Zalman stuff is meant to be super-quiet. The Zalman HSF on my XP 1700+ only gets my chip down to 58 deg. C load for example - but I cant hear it so I dont complain 🙂
Since I have 3 PCP&C Silencer fans running at about 7 volts in my SX600, and it runs very cool, I just bought the Zalman to replace my Enermax 365VE(FC). I'll let everyone know if it's worth the investment. Thanks for the responses.
