Anyone use this sort of electric razor?

My facial hair grows like a weed, disposable razors do a good job and no blades to clean out. Electric razors get clogged easy and are a bitch to maintain.

My .02 cents.

Never used that type of Norelco, only the kind that KK linked. Been using a Braun for the past few years and like it.

I have one similar to that and it's okay.

I've got a straight, the electric, and a fusion. During the week, when I shave every morning, I usually just use the electric because it is quick and good enough. I don't use the fusion much, and I use the straight about once a week.

If I use the electric too often, it gives me ingrown hairs. Also, in order to work well and not take forever, it has to be used on 1 day's growth or less.

I have one like that but a few years older model.

I use it pretty much everyday. The heads flip open and you have to rinse it out after each shave (or every other). It's simple to flip the head open and run it under the faucet. It's not hard to "maintain". You need to replace the head every ~18 months ($35) based on your usage. You can still use it fine, it just cuts much better with a new head.

It works well, but your face needs to be DRY. If your face is a little damp from the shower, the head sticks to your skin and has trouble cutting the hairs.

If you have never used electric, it may take some time for your baby's ass face to get used to the abuse. It will cut the hell out of the neck area for a while until your skin mans up. You basically have to repeatedly rub against the grain.

I like it for normal everyday shaves, but if I want to be real close or want to looks better, I use a Gillette Fusion and Barbasol.

Costco had a higher version of this last Christmas. It was around $220 and then had a $50 coupon dropping the price. Wife got it for me for Christmas. I have always been an electric razor fellow, having used most the major brands. I found this razor about as good as any other Norelco (pretty good). I had a Braun top of the line prior and for me, the blades wore out quickly. I found with the Norelco, that to get the closest shave you MUST use the Williams pre-shave liquid first, and then use the electric razor in a circular motion. It is not necessary to press hard and actually pressing hard makes cutting worse. Again, everyones face is different, so when someone says brand X is bad, they probably mean that brand X didn't work great for their face.

I like the Braun style ones a lot better (ie. straight foils, not the circles), but electrics in general are pretty poor performers... so i'll use a razor when I have spare time.

It has this sort of free-floating head that seems to be on a pivot point seperate of the rest of the body.

Is this a better design at all? It certainly looks cool.

Had one a bit older, tore up my neck really badly. Haven't used it in over a year.

Seconded.

OK, grandpa...

Obviously you've never experienced the best shave of your life, son.

I don't have that one, but I have a three circle blade (similar basically). I use it maybe three days/week. It is quicker than blade, but nobody has yet designed an electric razor that shaves as closely. I use this one just in the morning to take the edge of, so it's not a waste of money but you'd never use it if you were going on a date with somebody seriously hot like, oh, Rosie O'Donnell.

Never been a fan of rotary shavers. Had a cheapy Phillips one that would irritate my face pretty badly.

Blades give a closer shave but I find they irritate the sensitive skin on my neck. Plus they're more time consuming. That's why I prefer electric. Get a good quality Remington shaver. They've always been my choice.

My hair is immensely thick/coarse (I can shave in 8 directions in a hot shower and still have a shadow). I use a rotatary electric (some random 40$ three headed one (I think braun)). It does about as well as shaving with the grain.

The irratation on the neck and such goes away after using one for a bit. Unless you press it really hard into your neck.

I was wondering when the first safety razor post would be :p

I 2nd this. If I shave with any other type of razor I don't get a clean shave, or I just end up with soreness all over my face.
