I have a dell with an autosensing power adapter that can handle from 110-240 volts so I should be fine if I throw on a plug adapter. However, my concern is that the cable leading to the power adapter is rated at 126 volts. On the Dell FAQ it also says I will need a better power cable

"Before using AC power in a foreign country, you may need to obtain a new power cable that is rated for use with the level of electrical voltage in that country. The power cable supplied with Dell notebook systems sold in the United States is rated to handle 115 volts."

I can't find a beefier 3 cord power cord for my ac adapter anywhere. Where does one buy these?

where are you going?

you'll need a plug adaptor anyway so the cord will fit in the outlet. you might as well get a universal power convertor.

Going to Hungary...plug adapter is like 5 bucks so I don't want to spend 50+ on a universal power converter when my power adapter does it automatically.

I used my Dell 8100 in the Netherlands, France, England, Switzerland, and Spain over a period of 4 months and i never had a problem using my included charger.

Ok I figured the help file must have been wrong or they just were trying to cover their butts. Otherwise why would you include a power cord that can only handle 120volts and attach it to an adapter that can do almost twice that.

Awesome! I'll be there in March for 3 months. I hope you post your experiences once you return.
