I noticed someone in my city is selling refurbs of the ViewSonic Professional Series P810. They has an eBay ad/store, but they also are local in Atlanta. Being that my latest experience with 'new' ViewSonic is terrible, I was thinking of contacting these folks for a look-before-buying experience in hopes that the black level (Brightness setting, which effects contrast ratio) and halo are not evident.

BTW, they are selling them for $200 delivered.

My experience with CRT, particularly the newest models is spotty at best. This probably reflects the emphasis of the market on LCD. Is there a reason you don't want to go LCD? My 213T is everything I want it to be, with the possible exception of faster for gaming. Even then it is pretty good, and I don't game as much as I used to anyhow.

Of course there is a reason. :) I like have a need for high contrast ratio and low black-level for photo and video editing. LCDs cannot come close in contrast ratio. As a result, the higher than desired black level makes black look gray, and the resulting low contrast ratio makes colors look washed out.

Besides, trying to get a 19" or larger flat-panel capable of at least 1600x1200 for <$400 is impossible at this time.
