My dad is looking for a Universal Remote. Everyone is pushing Logitech, esp the new Harmony One.

I like my URC MX-500...I picked it up for $50 from Amazon a while back. There are no 'images' just plain text, user defined labels...great macro support.

The RF30 supports RF which is freaking awesome if you have ceiling fans and the like that use it (along with hideable sensors to control IR gear).

Anyone use both?

Nothing against the URC remotes but the reason that most folks suggest the Harmony remotes is because their ease of use. Programming the URC series of remotes over the years has gotten simpler but it's not nearly as dead simple as the Logitech remotes. Any particular reason you're pushing the a URC remote over a Logitech? Mind you it doesn't need to be a Harmony One, there are a number of good Harmony remotes out there that will do the job for less.

I feel the URC has a simpler interface. It's more clear to me what feature I am selecting rather than figure out different icons.

What Harmony remotes do RF for less?

I will check that out. I do all my remotes through learning, rather than preset codes. I get exactly what I want then.

that device is not really a replacement for a RF remote.
