hey all, im upgrading from an AGP 6800gt to a PCIE x1900xtx, and while i have a sturdy enermax 460wt psu with 33a on the +12v line, it doesnt have any of the newer PCIE connectors. can i use one of these convertors:

i cant tell if im supposed to connect both 4 pin molex connectors to the 6 pin PCIE adapter or just use one? is there a general problem w/ using these convertors, or will i be fine?

thanks in advance. :)

If you look into the 4-pin molex in the adapter, you will notice that there are 3 lines on each. 3 + 3 = 6. So you connect both, then connect the other end to the video card. It's always a good idea to have each 4-pin molex connected to different rails from the PSU.

by the way, the retail video card box should include that 6pin adapter, but if you go oem, then buy that $10 adapter :) To be sure check the description of what is included..

I'm using one with my 7800GT (it came with the card). Yes, you are supposed to hook up 2 4-pins to it.

You connect both.

When plugging in the Molex connectors, try to trace back the molex connectors to the PSU and use two 4-pin molex plugs from DIFFERENT wires (eg don't use just 2 molex connectors from the same line).
