anyone use microsofts new home server?

Compatible how? As in running them directly on the server? Possibly, but that's not what it's designed to do.

If you're asking if you can save files from standard desktops apps to the home server, then yes.

I've used Home server 2008 RC1 quite a bit. Its fucking *awesome* and a half. I run the enterprise edition with hypervisor beta (yea, I'm testing at work too), so I've yet to have a real compatibility problem virtual machines couldn't handle (a lot of common shit runs without issue. Most of our proprietary shit needs VM's.)

Uh, wrong product. You're running Server 2008 Enterprise. There is no Windows Home Server 2008 product, RC or otherwise.
