Anyone use Linksys EZXS55W to connect to cable modem?

I can't get my Linksys EZXS55W 5 port workgroup switch to work. Called cable company and Linksys, to no avail. Lynksys told me "maybe you should try a hub instead of a switch". Well $hit, the box said it was perfect for sharing a broadband internet connection.

If anyone is using this product to connect two or more PCs to a cable modem, I would like to know if you had any problems and what you did to fix them. Thanks.

You've got a couple of options here, but there may be nothing you can do but buy a router.
Now I know that most cable modem providers will not allow a household to grab more than one IP at a time. Also, the modem itself may not support distributing more than one IP.
When you connect the cable modem to the switch, do you get a link light on the switch? If so, are all your PCs set for DHCP?
If not, is the modem plugged into any port 1-5, or is it in the uplink port? Whichever one it's plugged into, try the other.
If none of this works, you'll probably need the afore-mentioned router. Linksys offers several. They offer a 1 port that will plug into your existing switch (BEFSR11). If your switch is new, try to trade it out for either the 4-port or the 8-port router (BEFSR41 or BEFSR81).

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips. I just tried it again and I don't know exactly what I did, but it works now! I think it was the DHCP thing.
