I have a Samsung ML-1210 printer and I'm still on the starter toner cartridge. I was looking for a replacement but I saw some refill kits on eBay. I figure why replace the drum if it's still working OK, but then again I don't know much about these work. Any thoughts? Thx

I purchase 2 of the toner refill bottles for my Brother 1440 printer. The toner kits work very well - if you follow the instructions. Usually, the instructions indicate that you should empty out the existing toner before you fill it with the new toner. Once you have the new toner in the cartridge, you shake it from side to side a few times to get it into all the nooks and crannies. From there, you have to print about 30 sheets of test pages to get everything synchronized.

I'm not too sure what you'll encounter with the Samsung refill kits, though. My Brother cartridge had a plastic cork that I was able to remove to aid in the process. Some toner cartridges don't have the plastic filler plugs, so you need to use a device like a soldering iron to make a round hole about 5/8" in size. Then, you use a supplied cork to hold the toner in the cartridge once it has been filled. If you cartridge is of this type, you should be able to find an auction that includes both the toner refill bottles and the tool. I wouldn't trust using a drill because it could dump lots of plastic shavings into the cartridge - which is what you would not want to happen.
