I have a laptop shoulder/side bad and it is starting to kill my shoulders. I rotated over the past two week and standing around in the subways, buses, walking between buildings have started to take their toll. It's a nice Targus bag, good amount of padding and all but I think its gotta go. I estimate I spend amount 3 hours a days on my shoulder... don't know about you guys but its annoying.

I was flipping through a dell catalog at work after school and saw a "Dude you've got a friggin dell" brand laptop backpack for $50. I would like something like that without the... well you know.

Anyone recommend laptop backpacks that they have used or maybe suggest other ways of bringing the laptop that also worked well?
I need to get something under $100 as I am officially a poor college student. TIA!

Yeah some of my friends stuff their laptop's into their northfaces but there's no cushioning :(. It's stylish and all but I really dont want the lappy to die from getting bumped around (I have to use public transportation.... in NYC).

another vote for the kensington saddlebag.

it's a little bit larger than most laptop bags, but it's comfortable and the interior is very roomy

Just don't get anything that looks like or is labeled as a laptop bag/backpack. Thieves see it as a big steal me. I wouldn't be suprised to see a SUBSTANTIALLY higher number of laptops thefts reported from laptop owners carrying them in a bag or backpack that looks like it carries one or is labeled so.

I have one and it works great. I only wear it when I ride my motorcycle into work. When I get home, I'll check the brand for you. My work pays for it though, so I'm not sure how "poor student" friendly it is.:)

Good luck.

Thought you bought that Toshiba (?) lappy from the costco deal... Don't fret, more hot deals will come your way :D.

FreeJack2: Good point, actually that is another reason why I am trying to get a different bag. My current bag looks like this and it is readily obvious it has a lappy inside. I can't fall asleep on train since I dont want some punk snatching and running off with it when the doors open on a stop. I figure a backpack might be a bit less conspicuous.

I currently use the Targus - Sport Deluxe Backpack for my Dell 8100 lappy and it is FANTASTIC. I travelled with it all the way from the states to Holland, through 2 airports, about 5-6 busses, and over 3 miles of walking and it was fine. Keep in my my laptop weighs damn near 8lbs too. The thing is VERY well padded and comfy to wear. Luckily i had a friend who worked at BestBuy and he picked it up for me at a fairly decent discount. When im not lugging around my lappy, i use it as my school backpack over here and as a grocery bag when i go food shopping.

Fantastic Lappy Backpack!

I use the rackgear bag when I take my laptop to school. Pretty nice so far. Took out the stupid rack though
