Anyone use H&R Block as their broker for funds/stocks/other investments?

I saw an ad that H&R Block was offering a free financial consultation meetings so I decided to check it out.

The Financial advisor I talked to I thought was a real nice guy and seemed to know his stuff. I have some money that I can now start to invest (want to open up a Roth IRA at least) so I wanted to talk to someone on where to being investing. I think I may setup a Roth with this guy at H&R and set up the fund with Vanguard.

Anyone have any experiences with H&R or recommend another financial advising company to check out? Thanks.

I'm not sure a financial advisor is really necessary unless you have a number of different assets/investments.

If you know you want to start a Roth IRA, why not just go directly to Vanguard and avoid the additional middleman fees?

well, the way I understood it is as long as I stick with mutual funds, there are no middleman fees (H&R gets there cut directly from Vanguard or whatever fund family you go with) so I thought it'd be good to set it up with someone that probably knows a little bit more than me.
