Anyone use GMAIL as their primary account?

I have several domains, but after using gmail for a couple of weeks now, I love the webmail over what I have now (Squirrelmail). However, I keep hearing about people saying gmail is always down, but I havent experienced any problems with their uptime. Anyways, I'm looking to auto-forward mail from my personal domain to gmail just to use gmail's web interface.

I use gmail as my primary account. It has gone down a few times usually for less than 1/2 hour or so. Still that beats everything else I have used so far.

ive used it as my primary account since it came out. its definately the best ive ever used. also, i got this firefox extension which allows me to use my gmail space to store files off my computer. its pretty sweet.

i use my isp's pop account for bill reminder's and such, but for personal email to communicate with friends and family i use gmail. only once have i ever received the 'try again in a few minutes' message, and that was during the first week after it rolled out. its been consistent, dependable and fast for me ever since.

i am thinking of doing the same thing, i have no time to develop the web portion of my domains, so they are just pretty much emails hosts. i could save some $ if i consolidate my domains and then just forward all the emails to gmail and then slowly switch important stuff directly to the gmail account

Exactly!

I hate Outlook's search feature and I was tired of looking for "Sent" mails when I send mail from my personal laptop, desktop (work), and webmail. Apparantly, the sent folder isn't synchronize.

I have used Gmail as my primary for a long time and I only remember it being a problem once...and only for like an hour. It is technically still in Beta...so they are more than forgiven for that...although they seem to leave there stuff in Beta FOREVER as kind of an "excuse" for any problems that might come up.

My only concern is them dumping the project for some reason.
Also, I hope they back our data up!!! After using my own domain w/ Squirrelmail for over 4 years, I just have a safer feeling knowing my host does backups and I'm in control of my domain.

what? dumping there gmail program? ur a bit of a worry wart. there is nothing stoping you from archiving your emails on your own machine which is what i do also with my gmail account.

google news just came out of beta after 3+ years, so i would expect gmail will unbeta soon enough. they won't drop it
