Currently on Comcast.
Have "Triple play"
I don't watch tv personally.
Supposedly the cost of it is $186/mo but they gave a "special deal" so it is only $130-ish.
So I'm thinking about moving to Frontier.
I probably will drop cable (though others in the household might not like it so much). I'm also thinking that I could get an Ooma to port that number that comcast was maintaining and save the money there.
Now, frontier tells me that they charge $35/mo for 7MBS service, then $45 for 12 and $55 for 24.
How acceptable is 7MBS service? Typically there will be one or two video streams playing in the house at once, occasional internet gaming. I will likely have multiple VOIP devices piggybacking on the internet connection also.
IIRC, to reach the real number of megabytes per sec you have to divide by 8. So 7MBS service would get you a bit under 1mb/sec. Still pretty fast if you ask me.
Now, are the upgrades noticeable in improvement, or are they a sort of mushy thing where oftentimes the low tier plan reaches speeds rivaling the mid and high tier (or, the mid and high tier slow down to low tier speeds).
Does Frontier have monthly bandwidth caps?
Thanks all.
