Anyone use DVD-RAM drives?

I was at a local electronic store and I saw a dvd-ram disc says to store 9.4GB of data ( just what I need). I bought it and went home to find out that it does not fit in my pioneer 107D burner (bummer...). Does anyone use dvd-ram? I just like the fact they have fast transfer rate and is rewriteable (like floppy I think). What burner will burn dvd-ram?
