Anyone use Bigzoo.com for long distance?

FrustratedUser mentioned it in this thread. I am considering dropping the land line but need to have a way to call Internationally. This seems like an easy and relatively cheap way to do it.

You call a local access number, enter your pin or something and dial your international number. Voila! $0.22/min to England.

Is this the way to go?

Of course, if I start that consulting business, I will need at least one landline so it might be a moot point...

I've been using it for 2 years. I can't recommend it enough. Once in a blue moon the 800 number for some reason won't work or it says that my password is bad, but that's once in a blue moon. We use it for all our long distance.

BigZoo is great, & with PinSkip you don't even have to enter your PIN.

One kind of strange thing I've noticed, it seems to disconnect you if there's a prolonged silence.

Could be coincidence, but I used it for over a year & consistently noticed that.

I will post again to say that bigzoo is one of the best companies I've run into (rossman started me on them). I had just signed up for sprint when he ponited me their way and I cancelled sprint. I've since received a couple of calls from telemarketers and actually humoured them by telling them why I won't switch to their plan and they are somewhat taken aback by how much cheaper it is than anything sold by AT&T, sprint, etc. 24/7 low rates, no monthly minimum, no contracts, etc. You can even use it from a payphone. In fact I would think that you could make a local call from a payphone, via the 1-800 number, and pay only your minute use instead of the $.50 that payphones now charge.

I believe you pay a payphone fee when calling from a payphone.

Been a long time since I've used it, I finally live in an area where I have free long distance & unlimited nights/weekends on my cell phone.

AFAIK calling from a payphone incurs a 55 cent fee (could be more now).

We use it to call Australia all the time from our cell phone. Since we use their PINSkin feature it's very quick and easy to dial:

1) Dial a local access BigZoo.com number 503-xxx-xxxx
2) Automated operator announces our balance, we enter in the 011 international phone number and it starts ringing down under.

I would use Bigzoo.com too but I went to Onesuite.com a couple of years ago before I heard of Bigzoo and have also been very happy. I havent looked recently but I think theyre pretty much identical.......I dont call overseas so its like 2.9 cents/minute? Its so cheap I dont even think about it. They also have an automated pin number thingy to whatever phones you setup to so you dotn have to enter your pin number everytime...

Now if I could just find cheap local phone service. My bill is like 30 bucks/month and we have no extra services.........Ive been watching it creep up from just over $20 over a year ago to 30 now. It sucks:disgust:

But when you do it that way, aren't you using double minutes? One for your cell phone and then one for your bigzoo account? I guess if you called late enough and had free nights/weekends it would work.

You might find it more enjoyable if you set it to vibrate.
