do you recall any sites that have these comparisons? I'd like to see who's on top

go to your local library. they have past issues of consumer reports. consumer reports did a full review comparison of a ton of air filter machines last year, and did a second one just last month. they retested the ionic breeze and had independent testing on it, and it still ended up dead last by a very wide margin:) there is consumer reports online, but its pay.

The Ionic Breeze is CRAP! Anyone who says otherwise has either fallen for the BS, or the results they're experiencing are psychosomatic.

I believe what I see, and I see a lot of dirt on that thing when I clean it every week.
There is nothing psychosomatic about that....
It just works....

I have an ionic breeze and I get annoyed with the noise it makes, otherwise I'd have to clean it very often. It's not too big of a deal to clean it but it's just more tedious maintenance, and it always seems to start producing noise again at 3am ruining my sleep. Then sometimes even cleaning it dosent make it stop producing annoying sounds and you have to go through routine of shaking it in every angle and flipping it around.

Oozone (O3) is toxic for most carbon-based lifeforms. Humans are no exception.

There are at least a few discussions about air cleaners/purifiers in the archive, though accessing the archive is sometimes a major PITA.

WRT to Consumer Reports, the Friedrich C-90A has topped their annual household air cleaner test for something like ten years in a row. On the opposite end of the list, the Ionic Breeze has far and away been dead last every year it has been tested.

Although, the most recent CR test managed to find some competition for the Ionic Breeze in the category of worst performing air cleaner; knock-offs of the Ionic Breeze made by other companies. lol!

The C-90A is a good product, but it is an ozone-producing electrostatic collection unit combined with a fiber pre-filter and activated charcoal post-filter. While I do not know the estimated annual cost of running the C-90A given the periodic replacement of the activated charcoal filter, these electrostatic collection devices require frequent cleaning to maintain their high filtration efficiency rates. As the collector plates become saturated with gunk, their ability to attract and hold particles rapidly declines.

Although the CR test methodology is generally sound, it should come with one caveat. The results for electrostatic collection units are only applicable for optimally maintained units. IOW, this is the performance you can expect only if the unit is cleaned religiously. How often depends on factors unique to each household, but I would say that no fewer than 2 times every month is a reasonable expectation. These things can get nasty, too, so its not a 5 minute jobby.
