Anyone use a valet tray to hold their change, keys, and other pocket contents? Example at Amazon I want something nicer than a plain cardboard box. This cardboard letter basket is nice enough, but it is too large, sized for 8.5x11 paper. I browsed desk organizers, but I didn't see anything suitable.

I found a [thread=1939460]thread from 2006[/thread], but I decided not to necro it.

I'm not sure what you would call the thing I use. It is like a bowl but squared off with a teacup handle on one side. It is also made out of pewter and at least 43 years old. That is how long I remember it being around the house at least.

My father had a nice wooden dresser valet with a roll-top lid of heavy paper with an old school world map picture on it. I loved that as a kid.

I just use a small plastic basket like this.

Here are a few possibilities.

Try a google image search for "wooden dresser valet roll top vintage".
Another two possible search terms are "change" and "tray".

Thanks for all the replies. A plain plastic tray/basket should work for me. I should have specified that I usually don't carry change any more, so I don't need the separate compartments.

This is a situation where a physical store has a comparative advantage over online. Browsing a store like Bed Bath and Beyond would probably turn up something. Amazon has too many products to browse, and its search results are too narrow. I found some possibilities at The Container Store site, but it's easier to compare their size in person.

Lol, $40.

You can get something far better & functional at Walmart for $10.

I've never felt the need for such a thing.

when I get home, I usually empty out the contents of my pockets (except my phone) on a shelf right next to the door... my phone stays on my person until bedtime, at which point it gets plugged into the charger on my nightstand.

My lovely valet tray has met its maker.

My fat lazy cat decided to sit in it. I heard a weird sound and then change hitting the floor. The whole floor is bent and ruined.

RIP good buddy

I have a brass valet that sits on top of my dresser. It obviously was made in India. I've had it so long that I don't even remember where I got it, but I've seen things like it at a any number of import shops for a lot cheaper then $25.
