the post below made me think of this
i have an efficient networks (www.efficient.com) speedstream 5667 that came with my earthlink dsl service for free
ever since i installed it along with my linksys 4 portswitch + router + wireless i seem to intermittently lose my dsl connection. i have to go down to my basement, unplug the dsl modem, unplug the router, and then plug them both in. this restores the connection every time.
ive got up to 9 comps on the connection and i lose it on all of them.
its annoying when i have to do this everyday, or sometimes many times a day, or sometimes within 10 minutes.
i have called earthlink tech support and gone up to the highest tech level and gone through eveything to try and fix this, no help
tech support did an extensive line test that came up fine and they suggested my 900mhz fones/2.4gig fones were causing the problem, so i unplugged and turned all of them off and it still happened
i flashed the router and modem to the latest firmware... the router never shows red problem lights when the connection dies
my suspicion is that its the modem, any one have any suggestions to fix this? or want to recommend a good dsl modem? preferably another speedstream since i can prolly get it from earthlink for free, but im willing to pay for a stable connection
