Anyone use a HDHomerun prime?

I want to get one of these to use with windows media center and get a cableCARD from Comcast. I watch TV and surf the net on my 32" viera 1080p. Plus it'll be nice to have 2 tuners to access.

Anyone else do something similar?

I've been using a HDHomeRun Prime since around last Christmas when I got it from a Black Friday special. I have it located in the basement near my server and network panel right where the cable comes in from the street. I have it serving 3 HTPCs, one extender and a few other desktops/laptops running W7MC.

So far it's been brilliant. I too have Comcast. I picked it up at my local office and did the self-install. Everything actually worked and has been working ever since -- way better than the set top boxes ever did.

I use a HD Homerun (non-Prime) to receive OTA HD for testing purposes and it works great. It sits on a shelf in my garage and is connected to my gigabit switch.

The HD Homerun Prime is similar.

BTW good to see ecosmartpc here. I value his opinion.

I love my hdhomerun prime. Three tuners means I can watch tv on any of the five computers in my house. Main computer is my dvr and I can watch the recorded shows anywhere in the house as well. No cable boxes needed for my tvs, as they each have an htpc hooked up. All computers are running W7.

Comcast has a special phone number for cablecards and the people I talked to were actually knowledgable and it was easy to set up.

PM me any additional questions, although I will not be able to reply until 8/27.

Another +1 for HD Homeruns. Great product.

Remember the tuners are digital only. Typically not an issue but make sure you check out antennaweb.org (sorry first link was incorrect) depending upon where you live. This website will tell you what channels are available at your location and what is the best antenna to buy. If you are using a cable card it won't really add value but if you wanted OTA signals its worth a check.

I should have added I also have the non-Prime HDHomeRun as well which does duty for the broadcast networks (clearQAM). I use GuideTool to setup the HDHomeRun as priority for the clearQAM channels. That helps a lot with tuner conflicts since the networks are what we watch/record most.

I've got the non prime hdhomerun as well. Works well for watching/recording sports on the network channels.
