Anyone use a CCF on their LGA1366 board?

If so, I'd like to know your opinion particularly on the mounting bracket.

Only potential issue I see is that once mounted, it would mean taking out the motherboard completely to swap the CPU out if needed (the lever looks like it will get stuck under the clamp ring).

I really don't want to have to buy a whole new HSF when I have a perfectly good CCF sitting here, but at the same time spending $13 ($8 after rebate.. yay.) on the bracket is still cheaper than $35 or so on a new, more than likely less capable HSF.
 
CCF, must be fast but I can't for the life of me imagine mounting one of those to anything untill it's stuffed,

CCF = Core Contact Freezer.

So its either a Ximgatek, or a Sunbeam.

They dont do that bad on an i7, its not the best sink out there, but definitely better then stock.

As I said, I'm mostly concerned about the quality and utility of the "adapter" for LGA1366. Wondering if there's a cost effective solution that would be comparable/better in performance with everything in the box from the get go.

**Note: I already have the CCF, just trying to determine whether the adapter is the way to go for this upcoming upgrade versus something else.
 
Maybe you use a "bolt thru" w/ backplate like many of us use for waterblocks. You would need to remove the motherboard only once. I have many 775 boards setup like this and use the same thumb-nuts and springs for most applications, air or water. The only changes I'll make are the springs.


I knew "CCF" sounded familiar but couldn't place it, that link came up in a google search,, guess I'm going senile....😛
 
I'd give the adapter a shot. Personally, it'd be worth it to take out the MB vs buying another heatsink. If I was going to change heatsinks, and since you already have a 120mm fan, I'd get a Thermolab Baram....like this http://www.koolertek.com/computer-parts/pc/ThermoLab-Baram-191p1508.htm

Well that's the thing. I'll be installing a new motherboard, so putting on a new backplate isn't a big deal. The issue arises because I know for certain that I'll be upgrading the CPU at least once if not twice within the next year, meaning I'll need to get at the socket. If I can do that without having to remove the adapter, then it's no big deal.

Exactly what I would want, except it wouldn't work with the CCF (my existing cooler) as they have a custom adapter kit for it.
