it's really too bad, it's definitely the fastest... and the least piggy for memory

Have you used it recently? I might have said the same a year or two ago, but honestly incompatible sites are so amazingly few and far between now that its a total non issue except for the rare site that refuse to believe there are browsers other than IE.

The sites I have primary issues with? Microsoft.com, MSDN, and the Vista gadget site. That shouldnt surprise anyone considering the source.

I've yet to find a page that doesnt work in opera that does work in firefox. Now that the world isnt IE only, webdevs have to worry about Safari and Firefox as well, and anything that works in those, will work in opera.

After just installing the 9.5 beta, which claims to focus on performance (as if it needed to), the fastest browser is now even faster. Unbelievable. Unless you are literally married to a firefox extension, you should give it a try.

Yeah, I installed 9.5b this week. Youtube fails to render properly for one, and there was another I'm forgetting.

No Youtube = fail.

I also dislike the autocomplete the address bar uses--when I'm typing it goes ballistic.

Youtube has worked fine for me since I cant remember how long ago. Several years at least. Not even the slightest problem, so I dunno whats effecting your rendering.

I hate autocomplete - and you can't disable it in FF anymore without turning off the history. Can you disable it in Opera?

Yep. Go to opera:config in the browser, search for "auto dropdown" and disable it.
