I eat as much as my friend who weighs 190 lbs and he works out 7 days a week.

I work out maybe twice a week, but I never gain any weight. If anything I have lost weight ...

Any ideas?

I probably eat 2500 cal a day.

I've been working out 3 days a week since the beginning of the year and haven't gained a pound, so I feel your pain. Are you gaining strength though? I deffinitely am, around 50% stronger across the board on upper body excersizes. I guess it sucks still looking like a computer nerd (which is what I am so whatever), but when I'm in the weight room I can lift the same weight as people lmuch larger than me which is kinda interesting.

i probably could if i wanted to, but i actually find it difficult to change my weight at all. I am now lifting 7 days a week, have been for the last few weeks, and my weight hasn't changed. i'd like to think i'm loosing fat and gaining muscle. 😀 If i work out less, i eat less, and if i work out more i eat more, so i guess it sortof balances itself out.

working out 7 times is NOT a good way to gain weight by anymeans. You need at LEAST 48 hours to rest a muscle after you have worked it out before you use it again. Overworking doesn't allow your muscles to repair themselves and grow larger.

EDIT: I currently have added calories to diet and am at about 4000 calories per day for a 150lb body. I think the problem is protien though, I am a college student and all the food I have in addition to the 2 school supplied meals was brought back from spring break and is therefore not meat, but instead stuff that is mostly just empty calories, so thats likely a problem.

I don't know much, but 2500 sounds more like maintaining than gaining, add in a few good workouts and you definitely won't gain anything.

I sit on my ass all day and I still can't hit 125lbs. Maybe it's cause I don't each as much as most people.

I had the same problem until I began eating more/cleaner and using whey.

I am up 15 lbs in the last 8 months which is a lot for someone who weighed 130lbs.

I eat 4000 Calories every day (well-balanced meals) and haven't gained a pound on the average (past 2 years).

I just started going back to the gym for weight lifting after a 2 yr hiatus, so hopefully i can gain some weight.

Over the past week, I went to the gym 3 times. First time was Chest, Triceps, and Running. Second time was Biceps, abs, lower back, and Running. Third time was Badminton for a couple hours. Next time, I hope to be doing shoulders and legs.

If 4000 is enough for you without lifting, then you are not going to gain weight when starting lifting.

What part of calorie surplus diets do people not understand?

for long long each day do you work out? Try working out every day.
do some part of the body each day. Like chest, shoulders, back, arms, legs, core, etc.

At 2500cals, sounds like you're eating @ maintenance levels but it really depends on some stats such as age, current weight, and bf%. You will need to calculate your basal metabolic rate(the amount of calories you'd burn if only sat on your ass and did nothing) then add in your avg daily calories burned from your daily activities(walking to work, playing video games, pretty much anything). Add up the numbers and that would be what you need to eat in calories to maintain weight. Eat less to lose, eat more to gain, simple as that.

Shrugs, I gotta try something. I cannot afford to increase my grocery bill any further. If i don't gain any weight from going to the gym, then all I can hope for is that my endurance and maybe strength increases (these are more important to me than weight gain). I'd like to be able to climb 6 flights of steps at a resonable speed and not be winded at the top.

Gotta eat a lot more then 2500 a day.. I weigh 160, go to the gym 4-5 times a week and am eating 4k a day but would like to be closer to 6k.

The cheapest way to eat a lot of calories is peanut butter, but the best way would be weight gainer. A serving of that is about 800 cals depending on what kind you get, and they vary in price..

Sounds like you'd be better served doing some cardio.

Yeah, Id like to carry my groceries without problems too lol!

Cardio is definitely helping, but i was shedding pounds way too quickly when I was running 15 minutes every day. I just cant keep up with my metabolism, i guess ill go look for some other foods that have more calories, but are less filling so that I can consume more overall calories...

here's an interesting fact for you. 3500 calories = 1 lb. If your body needs 2500 calories on average, you can slowly get weight if you take in an extra 500 calories a day. After 7 days you gain 1 lb.

I'm in the same situation. It's really difficult for me to gain weight. I'm putting myself on a strict diet to eat lots of food and drink protein drinks each day. Definitely not easy to be discipline.

ffs, you have great metabolism, stop bragging.

realize though it will catch up to you one day and you'll wonder where your gut came from all of a sudden.

actually write down what you actually eat in a week. people suck at estimating. no magic, excess cals = weight. course people think they eat one big meal suddenly they are going to get fat, naw it takes time.
