Anyone try to build a case from scratch in here?

I'm working on an aluminum case and I just wanted to know if anyone had anything to say as a result of their building endeavors.

be prepared for 4x as much work as you think its going totake.....I've done metal and plexi custom cases from scratch......it takes forever BUT the end result (if it turns out how you planned) its badass, just besure to do plenty of planning and think about EVERYTHING. the mroe planning you do, less actual work there is

I am building an acryllic case from scrath. It is a lot of work but well worth it if you are trying to make somethign not available from anywhere else.

it's nothing fancy, just wanted to see how small i can make it.the case was about 10" x 10" x 10"

but yea, it was a lot of fun.

Plexiglass is simple to work with compared to aluminum. I would like to try my own metal case someday, but I wouldn't know where to start.

where is a good place to get the aluminum or steel? i'm trying to do something reasonably interesting and the only thing holding me back is a source of metal. also, is there a place where i could get pre-drilled sheet metal like the outside of the lian-li/apple g5 case?
