I have been using it for a couple of weeks, I installed hoping to get it work with the ati drivers but to no avail. No issues up grading to it other then the video card.

It (finally) fixes the (lack of) sound on my Toshiba P105 Laptop. The drivers in 8.04's repository do not cause my x1950 AGP card on my desktop to not boot (like the drivers in the 7.10 repository).

I've had issues with ubuntu upgrades this week.

Desktop:
2.6.24-12 works fine
All later kernels don't make it through the boot process. I've removed and reinstalled them, re-generated the initramfs images... nothing.
Other than that it works happily, provided I select -12 on boot every time.

Mythbox:
Latest updates killed my myth installation. Mythtv comes up, it just won't play DVDs, nor will it find any of my stored videos... it's like the database and everything inside it are hosed.
It also won't upgrade to hardy. It sees the upgrade is available, I start the upgrade process, but it says it can't do it and then reverts me back to gutsy.

I'm gonna try PCLinuxOS on my desktop and mythbuntu on my mythbox when I get some time.

I'm on it right now and I have to say that I like it better than 7.10
I think it boots faster too.
The Release Candidate is coming out tomorrow.

3D desktop works, scrolling seems a bit choppy, but it is the same way on 7.10. I do not know if any games work, since all of the games that I play do not work properly on Linux (why I have to dual boot). I have not tried the latest, as I have went back to 7.10 on the desktop. (x1950 Pro AGP)

My bro just installed 8.04 with his ATi HD3850. He had problems getting his card to work in Gutsy, but he said its fully working now. 3D and everything.

everything finally works for me out of the box except hibernate. Which is weird, cause in alpha 5 hibernate worked but no suspend and in alpha 6 hibernate stopped working and suspend started working.
ATI Gfx acel (ati mobility x200) and, finally, wifi (dreaded bcm4318).

There's a bug where the CPU pegs at 100%, you have to disable and enable wireless and networking once or twice to get it to stop.

It's great I love it so far; I completely wiped windows xp off. Its way faster than XP was on a fresh install, all the patches slowed me up like crazy.

I forgot to mention that. My P105 (GeForce 7900GS) does not come out of hibernate once it gets put into hibernate. I have to power it off by holding down the power button. Everything "seems" to come back when I try to bring it out of hibernation, except the screen never turns back on.

Do you have a hotkey on your keyboard for switching between the laptop screen and an external monitor? On my Dell it's Fn-F5. Anyway, this Dell does that exact same thing coming out of Suspend or Hibernate. Fans come on, lights come on, there's hard drive activity, but the screen remains blank. To fix it, I eventually figured out I hit Fn-F5 and the screen comes back after a few seconds. Oh, and it does this with all of Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Ubuntu, and the several people at work with the exact same model experience it, too (all of them on Windows).

Haven't really ought with it much. Long story short, killed old computer, moved Hard drives to new, added ati card, able to get it to reconize everything but just runs the vesa drivers. I was hoping to see all the goodies. Hardy will be out soon, get the final upgrade and then see what kind of fight I have.

I've been tempted to install it, but 7.10 is working great for me right now so I'm a little reluctant to mess that up.

I've had some problems with 8.04 RC with
2.6.24-16. Seems like several people are complaining about various regression bugs in the -16 that were not present in the -15.

Even so, it'll probably work for most people. But if kernel problems manifest for you, I'd be on the look out for a -17 or whatever either at the time the final 8.04 is out or shortly thereafter.

Other than that, it seems goood.

I did not think of that, will try it next time, thanks for the tip.

I just upgrade my Lenovo R61e from 7.10 to 8.04 RC1. Everything went almost perfectly. The only quirk I've noticed is that the icon for firefox at the top gnome panel (right beside evolution and the help icon) was a weird graphic, but I just did a quick google search for a firefox icon and replaced it. 8.04 is quite slick. Nope. April 24th. And it's usually released at like 23:59:59.99 so don't expect to get it until Friday morning.

I like it so far.
I even watched Lost on ABC's "Windows Only" site.
Granted, it's not that hard, but I'm a relative Noob.

However, my auto-import of photos when I insert an SD card is gone in 8.04. Seems to be a known bug.

I'm running on 8.04 right now and loving it. No bugs whatsoever.

However when building this computer I made sure every bit was Linux-friendly beforehand. I jumped from Fiesty to Heron and can certainly notice the difference
