Anyone try the DX9 beta yet?

Hiyas,

Well I'm almost ready to install. I own a ATI 9700. So,I'm making a system restore point (Ghost), incase I wanta goback to DX8.

Just wanted to know if anyone has tryed it besides Rand?

Rand ... hows it look? ... any probs?

np here so far i loaded a couple of days ago?

it adds a more 3d enviroment to some games etc... dronez benchmark is amazing ut2003 the differences are more subtle but still noticable

i havent had any? problems but haven't tested all my games either lol

one thing to note though i can't play 1 dvd ? after uninstalling dx9 that dvd does play now no macromedia error msg.

no it probably won't help the ti4200 at least not to my knowledge

While I haven't tried the DX9 beta I have tried ATi's DX9 RC0 drivers and they work quite well with DirectX 8.2.

a friend redownloaded the directx9 beta and ati drivers there are a few glitches but absolutely amazing detail
everything looks better and i can still watch my dvd's

must have been the packet loss in my d/l the first time

Well ... I cleaned up my registry from old drivers.

(The registry still had my Voodoo 5 5500 and GF2 NV4 driver references)
Removed the associated files with those references also.
Did my backup.

Went to download the file ... only to find out I can't download.

Interesting to me was the download that I got is a install program ... whick invokes another download process which doesnt work.
I get a message saying 'Could not download file. Please try again later or check network conection.'

What a bummer.

Can anyone verify its not working also?

MS has a screwed download. There was a full installer floating around that didn't need to d/ld but I dunno where it was.

Worked for me. Cleared up a problem with my 8500 in AC2 where some of the tree foliage looked white.

do NOT try it if you intend to keep it until the DX9 final comes out. i read that this beta was supposed to expire in '03 so i jumped on the ship. well, today, im receiving all sorts of popups about the "Beta DirectDraw is expired.". talk about annoying.

a side note: i did see a couple of errors recently, but for the most part, dx9 is somewhat stable. i wouldnt install it on a mission critical PC though.

what exactly *extra* differences are there between dx8.1 UT2k3 and DX9 UT2k3? Are there extra effects, or just performance enhancement?

Thats probably why the D/L isnt working then ... It's expired.
Although the MS D/L site says it expires in March 03 or something like that ...
