Anyone try running FFVI on PS3?

I assume you mean 7, not 6. 6 is a SNES game 😛 - 7 looks really, really bad today...if you're going to try it, don't expect anything great from the A/V perspective and play it for the story.

Did not know that. Then it'll look like a SNES game 😛

This and every RT battle with have excessively long loading times because it has to access a disc instead of a ROM. Think about how many RTBs you'll have within the game...

I played it on an emulator and I own FF Anthology. Oh, how I wish the PS3 would let you rip game discs to the HDD like the 360 does.

VI and VII both look and sound like they did on the PS1 - which is to say, not great. FF8 aged far more gracefully in that area.

No cigar my friend. I tried playing FFA through my PC by ripping my copy as well (amazing how it went for 20 bucks when i got it lol), and it still takes forever to go the menu. It seems like the lag is hard coded into the game to allow ample time to access the menu. I REALLY wish Square cut the game into chunks of thirds or fourths and let it load into memory on the psx.

I ended up just saying screw it and then playing the snes version despite not being able to see the nice fmv cut scenes and better dialogue (although it is still great..."I'm a general, not some opera floozy!")

Once the game is given texture filtering and a high(er) res treatment, it easily looks like a dreamcast quality game to me.

I find that in general my PS1 games play and look better using ePSX than on my PS3. On my PS3 I get graphics anomalies in some games such as FFIV (my fav) that dont appear in ePSX. Just a suggestion. I personally own every PS1 Final Fantasy ever released

Final Fantasy Origins (FF I and II)
Final Fantasy Chronicles (FF IV)
Final Fantasy Anthology (FF V and VI)
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy VIX

I gotta say that in general the PS1 version of FFVI plays like a pig.

Oh dear god FFAnthology loads so slowly even in ePSX that I couldn't play the game all the way through and FF VI is my favorite FF of all time (just edging out FF8).

I have FF Anthology and a BC PS3. I'm not kidding about the heavy pixelation. I can pause the screen and draw every single pixel on screen freehand if I wanted to do so. PSX and PS2 games were simply not designed for large digital screens. A lot were deliberately designed to underscan to compensate for crappy CRT setups.

I'll throw this in too. FF 7 and 8 look amazingly better when running them on my Voodoo 4 4500 retro gaming system. For ease of use and to preserve my original FF7 discs, I do play the game on my PS3 from the PSN $10 downloaded version. Same thing with Castlevania SoTN and FF Tactics.

Why can't they allow high res + AA + texture filtering on the PS3s PSOne emulator? It looks way better on PC then it does on PS3.

What is the best PSone emulator for PCs? I have a crappy netbook, so I'm not sure how well the graphics enhancements will work on my netbook?

epsx with the proper plugins. There are other options that might work better with specific games, but in my opinion Epsx is the best overall for compatibility and options.
