It's just conductive strips on tape.

It does look very convenient, though, lock/unlock a CPU with a sticker. And it's re-useable as well.

well...the pencil trick seems a bit hokey to me....conduct electricity????

how much voltage/wattage need to be transmitted to "bridge the gap" of those L1 connections?

they don't build motherboard / video card / NIC circuitboards using pencil lead...

so i am trying to find a way (windshield defroster repair kit is not available in NV, evidently) to unlock my Duron 900....

I've used the tape for over a month now, No problems. Easy to install. OC a early 1Gz to 1133 fsb 133 very stable. Runs very cool.

iamthesystem: Very little power transfer needs to take place. 10M ohms is probably a low enough resistance to work. I just measured a pencil mark on a bare PCB at 240k ohms.

iamthesystem-I guess you could order the windshield defroster repair kit from here http://www.frostfighter.com/ff_photo.htm if that is the route you are looking to go. Too bad those little tabs ar $24. They look pretty easy to use. They come in a 3 pack though, so you could get a couple guys to go in with you. As long as you get it right the first shot! Does anyone here currently use the pencil trick? How long does that last. I assume that if you dont move the heatsink then it should last a long time. But can anyone tell me ho long they have used it successfully.

i didnt have luck with the pencil so i used the deforger kit, but it seems that the right pencil and some scotch tape will do the same thing as the trace strip for much less $.

A buddy of mine and I used it to unlock his T-Bird 1Ghz and he go it up to 1.3Ghz no problem. I am getting some for my 1.33Ghz T-Bird to see what I can get it up to.
