I thought Myst was the coolest when I first played it, never finished it though.

Can't wait to see what the new version is like.

Thanks for the info.

I thought it was pretty good. A break from most other games. I liked Myst back in the day.
Makes me what to play Riven and Exile now.

Did anyone else like creating their character? I created a gorgeous green-eyed brunette to be my play thing :)

I was very disappointed in the demo. It was very different from the other Myst games, in a bad way.

First of all, I don't like the idea of them putting a stand alone Myst adventure and a MMORPG together.
One of the things that I liked about Myst was the feeling of isolation that was everywhere you went. (with the exception of occasional video or holographic recordings that you saw, but there were still no people there.) In the demo, the first thing you see is some guy sitting in front of a trailer.
The worlds in Myst were always fantasy-like, in Uru the ladscape looked like someplace in Nevada or Arizona, and even included things like the trailer that would have never been in other Myst games.

I found the controls to be horrible. You have to use both the mouse and the keyboard at the same time just to move forward without getting stuck. Your guy always gets caught on stuff and moving around in tight areas is awkward. I HATE the fact that you actually see "yourself"... The whole first person thing was one of the things that defined the Myst series. Even though you can switch to first person mode, it zooms out and shows your guy when you do certain things anyway. I understand that this is necessary for the online element of the game, but I think it would have been much better if there were two seperate games.

The graphics were superb but the gameplay sucked. The demo was pretty much just one simple "find 5 of these things" puzzle. Boring.
The full version might very well be more challenging, but the demo has convinced me not to buy.

I really, really liked Myst, Riven and Exile... this is a real disappointment for me. :|
