So anyone have any relatives or friends doing this or have done this in the past? I never had anything to do with it when it was Amway but I understand the basics. Seems resellerratings.com has a few good reviews but I wonder if they are all IBO's posting in disguise.

From what I get a wave4 program would be better money wise but Amway seems to have a bunch of stuff.. .. quality though? Don't blast me for askin about a referal program.. ..just give me some straight up views.. ..blast them if ya need to vent.. ..

One time a friend and I went to one of their little local conference things because we had a friend who was obessed with it. I felt like I was at some horrible cult meeting the whole time. I was pretty creeped out.

edit - Their energy drink product tastes really disgusting too (they were handing it out at the conference).

thats what my friend went to and brought me a folder of stuff to look over and tell him what I thought. From what I know it seems like it has the potential to be one source of income but no where near what they claim and not enough to quit your job. And even for that seems they are kinda flaky with their answers/explanations for what little income you might possibly be able to make.

Yes I was an IBO for a while.
ITS NOT AMWAY!
Quixtar has been around much longer and Amway is one of the many companies they have bought out over the years.

Like any other sales job, you have to know how to sell.
Working for yourself just makes it harder.

I hate talking to people and BSing them. I cant sell anything to anyone. So being an IBO with Quixtar is pointless for me.

My GFs parents did it for a while. I know that they spent a lot more money on it than they made. And I know it can tend to turn some people into jerks. I have been randomly approached several times (Best Buy, Dunkin Donuts, etc) by people wanting me to join.

/Cult isn't too far off.

You are wrong. You get an AMWAY card once you sign up. I still have mine from joining.

This is online Amway, money can be made, but more time is lost than it is worth!

Apparently not... from Quixtar's own site: "Launched in 1999" Amway was started like 50 years ago. Yet another "IBO" who doesn't have a clue what they were into...

Amway and Quixtar (aka Amway online) are both owned by the same parent company and were started by the same people.

Quixtar was launched to tap the internet and give Amway a new angle. It has not been around for years and did not buy Amway. Amway came up the idea and took their business model to a different level. If you were an IBO you would know you filled out all the Amway paperwork and got an Amway kit. All order forms have Amway right on them.

Taken from the Quixtar site..

Launched in 1999, Quixtar has taken Internet retailing by storm. The company's unparalleled support for Independent Business Owners has led to record sales days and top rankings.

THEY HIDE THE AMWAY NAME FROM YOU UNTIL THE VERY END!

You my friend have no clue. I am from the W. Michigan area (Amway's home) and I can clearly tell you that Quixtar is Amway.

In order to remove the stigma from their name Amway was renamed to Alticor (corporate) and Quixtar (web). Apparently it is working as planned. I had a friend in upper management that actually had a large part in this process.

The nice thing about being from Amway's area is that I never have to deal with them. People around here caught on a long time ago. However, I suggest that you join and lose all of your money - it comes back here and the Amway guys really do a lot for the community.

Oh yeah, the problem with Amway is that your best customer is typically yourself.

I humored my brother and went to an Amway convention in North Carolina with him prior to 2000. I went to one event and was treated to one of the Amway higher ups talking about Armageddon, the Rapture, the end of the world, etc etc. I was completely confused as I thought they were going to be doing motivational topics on Amway. I didn't geel very motivated to join knowing that the world was going to end soon and passed on going with him to the remaining events.

Stay away. I had some friends get duped into it, and when I was given the sales pitch by the person who got my friends in it, I just had to question everything I was being told. The sales pitch boiles down to trying to convince me 2+2=$10,000/month!!!!!

Do some more internet research. The only way you can make money off Quixtar is if you create those BS tapes that everyone has to purchase. You make nothing by selling products. The only goal of the organization is to recruit new members to attend seminars and buy tapes. And they recruit new members and buy even more tapes. If you received the full sales pitch, you should have realized that very very little was actually said about the products that they sell.

That's true of any venture. The less that is said about the actual product means more trouble.

That said, I used some of the stuff my brother got from Amway and it was pretty good. I don't think it was worth the hassle of joining Amway and going to all those freaking meetings and spending money on tapes and what not. But the products themselves weren't bad.
