Just wondered if anyone has tried these yet and if there are any improvements.

Wait, so is that the same shadow bug discussed in this thread? If so then this will be the best driver upgrade for me in a long time. I will probably wait for an XG version though.

Yes, the shadow bug that affected 3dmark05, BF2 and farcry with the early 81.xx betas has been resolved with this driver, and it has great IQ and performance increases to boot.

Remember to uninstall the older drivers properly first - some people have had minor issues with these drivers, some people, like me have had none.

Unfortunately I got the same DODS problems I've had with all 80.xx drivers... 19fps lol... but close to 80% CPU usage on dual core!

Weird, I don't get the new control panel. Perhaps that's part of the problem.

ooo. Can anyone take a screenshot of it? I don't like BETA drivers or I would do it myself. I am very eager to see the new control panel...

I can't personally vouch for BF2 or DOD:S, since i have neither on my system, but I haven't hear others complain about DOD: S.

You access the control panel through nvcplui.exe (in c:\windows\system32).

If you have performance issues with this driver, check to see if you are using Gamma AA or not, if you are switch it off, it appears to be borked perfromance wise in this driver.

These BSOD Fable (only game i tested), and don't support dual core. 81.26's outperform these handily if you have a dual core system.

19fps? you posted " In my case I think things are ok. 70fps with everything cranked to hell is pretty good " the other day......about the 7800gtx.

The shadow bug is still well and truly there in Farcry at least, in fact if possible it's worse :| look in my thread on it for screenshots :p

EDIT: i used the 81.82s...

I installed the 81.82 drivers this evening, in order to rerun a processor core utilization test I have been reporting on in this thread. So far they seem very stable. No difference in running temperature. Shadows and everything else in BF2 look correct.

But the really amazing change is in the dual core utilization. I had not installed other versions of the 8x.xx series, so I am comparing to the 77.xx series. The difference in core utilization is amazing. Check out the perfmon traces I posted from a 15 minute BF2 session. The links are edited in at the bottom of the original post.

81.82's are MUCH better than 81.33! DoD:S stuttered with 81.33 and ran smooth with 81.82 (81.26 worked better than 81.33 too)
