Anyone Try Doom III on an IBM T42?

Title says it all. I'm gonna buy Doom III, but I was hoping I didn't need to stick XP on my desktop to play... I have WinXP on the T42 (non-pro).

I saw the Hardocp benchmarks, no real info on a mid-tear Radeon 9600M w/64MB + a PM 735.

From the discussions I've seen, you should be able to run it at 800x600 on low-medium detail. Turning off V-Sync and shadows will help and there is also a config change you can make to the video cache to improve performance.

Tweaktown is reporting that the hardware scan in doom3 is pretty conservative.

My friend runs it at 800x600, medium settings pretty smoothly. His CPU is a 1.8ghz.

I tried D3 on a 2ghz, 512meg pc2100 ram, radeon 7500 32 meg ram laptop and at the lowest game settings i got like 1 fps. while i can play NFSU at decent settings just fine.
