Anyone try Age of Mythology yet?

I'm enjoying it. My beef is that I CAN NOT get it to do direct connect over IP with a friend. Just bombs out every time.

BTW - does anyone else feel like the Egyptians are completely worthless as an offensive power?

I played it for 2 hours and havn't touched it since. I guess I'm sick of traditional RTS games. They are all the same.

Is it just me, or are the Norse THE civ to have for an early rush? That, and the fact that infantry can constuct buildings is hella sweet.

great game! just beat it yesterday

for those of you who keep getting waxed by the computer, remember to build WALLS!! i didn't do that for most of the game, then when the last few levels got difficult i started building walls w/ towers behind them, and had my peons repair the walls while they were being hit... towers and ranged guys took out all the enemies!

warcraPt?? Yawn, 10 people = an army, thats no fun at all, need to atleast have 40 -60 guys on the screen hackin and slashin to even begin to be cool

I was big on Warcraft II, but what got me into the Age series was the massive scale of the battles. Im just disappointed there arent enough people with good enough computers to do a nice 5v5 online.

It's a good game, but nothing like AoK. It's more like AoK+Empire Earth.

& yes, the Norse rule.

Oh and yeah, you can still have large armies clashing at each other, but nothing as large so AoK as units now take from 1-4 population spots.

Sales for this game are certainly in line with AoE and AoK. I hardly see this as the nail in the coffin as you describe, and the sales for the game indicate I am right. The XMas shopping season should help push the numbers up even further.

Do you have the 1.01 patch? Still have not got it to work from behind a router, but they added a couple of command line arguments in the 1.01 patch that should get around that. The problem is, if you are behind a router, when contacting the server of the game it reports your internal IP address to the server, and you can never connect. They added 2 command line arguments to the 1.01 patch that will allow you to get the game to report your external IP address.

Of course we tried to game last night, and could not even connect using ESO, oh well.
