Anyone tried unlocking a T-Bird like this?

According to the Arctic Silver site, Arctic Silver Thermal Epoxy is slightly conductive and can cause a short between close traces. Do you think it's possible to use the stuff to unlock a T-bird? I have a mess of the stuff left and want a more permanant solution than the graphite pencil trick. If not then I;ll just spend the $$$ for the car defogger repair kit.

Hmm I dunno. It does have silver in it and silver is highly conductive (at least thats what I remember). Sounds plausible. But not sure about the other ingredients in AS.

its not conductive enough for the t-bird :( but a pencil works just fine for me

For 6 bucks for the defogger kit. I would do it right. You don't want to be playing with it latter

AS is only slightly conductive in thin layers and high pressure conditioons, so my bet is a no-go.

But standard silicone compound should work.

the only thing really conductive in AS would be the microns of silver which are basically floating around in a substrate. kind of like the salt in a glass of salt water. even densely packed, AS wouldn't be a good enough or sure enough conductor to beat the pencil or loctite.

the idea of insultating the pencil marks w/ something has been proposed before, i don't think it quite works out too well. more of a hassle then just to re-apply the marks.

rear window defogger kits are available at kragen, pep boys, autozone, etc for around $6-8. called loctite, it's a highly conductive solution that lasts much longer then pencil lead. just buy a kit and use something very thin (a single bristle from a brush, etc) to apply it, simply connect the bridges and be careful not to cross. use a magnifying glass, etc. it's the same idea as the pencil, same goal- just a different conductor.

I just got the Permatex Grid Defogger repair kit. Tried getting a pen from RadioShack and they didn't have it and I didn't wanna wait. I got the 15067 Part number for 6.99 at Pep Boys. Kit has a lil glass bottle, a brush and a stensil for window repair.
Toss the stensil, and I couldn't get it with a couple strands on the brush after cutting it. So I tossed it as well. I ended up using a toothpick that I shaved a little to make it very fine. After many attempts I finally got it right. Always got a few done perfect but seemed to get the last one unsatisfactory ;) Well at least I didn't wanna risk it since I don't wanna take the HSF off anytime soon now. But the Taisol was VERY easy getting on. I used nail polish remover to remove it easily after I messed up a few times. And checked with Magnifying glass if the lines touched.
Nice having options with the multiplier now. Think I need to play with voltage to get it proper, but that is for another topic.

Cheers and happy/safe unlocking.
