Anyone tried the HP Pavilion-x2 Convertible?

I'm looking for a cheap-ish fanless convertible laptop/tablet. I've seen a few positive reviews of the ASUS Transformer T100, and was tempted to buy one until I came across the HP Pavilion X2, which is about 20% more expensive, but has twice the RAM and storage, and a faster CPU. It seems a little better value to me.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any really decent reviews of the Pavilon X2, so I'd be really interested to hear if anyone has tried one out, or if anyone can recommend a similar type of convertible in a similar price range which they think would be a better choice?

Have you seen one in person? I was interested in them until I actually held one. They are incredibly imbalanced when using as a laptop. The tablet part is very heavy, and unless you have just the right angle it will tip over.

Thanks, that's useful to know. I'll go and take a look at one when I get the chance.

A shame really, the stability seems like such a simple thing to get right! I guess it's a consequence of having no battery below the keyboard.

I suppose I could try and attach a weight myself...

It turns out there are multiple models of this laptop. Some don't have a battery in the base, which I can imagine would make it very unstable.

The one I saw did have a battery in the base. Although the hinge restricts the screen from tilting too far back, it is stable, and the angle is comfortable even if the laptop is on a table and you are standing.

I was pretty happy with it, so I bought it! I might post a bit of a review at some point if people are interested!
