Anyone tried the Biostar K8M800-M7A

Trying to make up my mind. I am looking at two Biostars at Newegg - one the VIA800 board (K8M800-M7A) and the other one of the newer Tforce 6100 nVidia boards.

I can see that if one was using onboard graphics - the 6100 is best hands down - BUT - if you want to use the 128 Mg nVidia AGP card out of your old system ...would these two boards be about equel.

The nVidia version has got great overclocking - do not know about the other.

Hope I get a comment. Thanks.

I would like to know this also. Was looking at throwing together a stable FreeBSD 1u server and this chipset seems to be solid but wondering about the board itself.

Well, Anandtech gives the 6100 chipset rave reviews on the 939 board. When you look at the user reviews on Newegg - both the 939 and 754 get great ratings.

With the ability to overclock and the low price that you can get for a 754 version and a Sempron 2800+ - that will be my combo. I was thinking to bring my old 128 Mg AGP vid card to the new sytem, but the ratings that this chipset got for graphics done away with that notion.

If not using the onboard video then look at any of the features to see if one stands out. I know VIA has had great Linux support for years, so if that is importantant then go VIA.

Can anyone tell a n00b builder why Newegg lists only one TForce 6100-based socket 939 mobo - the Biostar? I have been considering the MSI K8NGM2-FID for my build, but I just want to understand the difference between these two boards for me, a non gamer. I have checked out the reviews mentioned earlier and I understand that the 6150 chipset is a bit 'higher-end'...has Firewire, South Bridge is 430 vs. 410...

Just wondering why all mobo manufacturers aren't offering a 6100?

Here is the MSI board I was mentioning

EDIT: Just enlarged the picture at Newegg, shows only one VGA out on this board, no DVI-I?

I would think they are using the 6150 on the newer 939 because it is considered a higher end product.
