Anyone has been able to tried the AM" board upgrade from ASRock?

http://www.asrock.com/product/AM2CPU%20Board.htm

One of the reasons I bought this motherboard was because of this AM2 upgrade board.

I'd like to hear from you if you tried it. Is it stable, easy to install, etc. Can you still use "old" DDR memory and not DDR2?

Thanks a bunch!

I read it work good and stable. even allow some overclock. as for ddr memory, the whole point to AM2 is ddr2 support, so... if you want to reuse your old ram, then just get a 939 cpu...

The board has nothing to do with memory support, as the memory controller is inside the CPU. so, if the cpu ask for ddr, the board will support ddr. if the cpu ask for ddr2, then the board will have to provide ddr2.

I was just about to ask this question. This board has an AM2 upgrade slot. However nothing about AM2 CPUs indicates that they support DDR1 AND DDR2, only DDR2. But this board only has DDR1 slots. How is DDR1 support actually possible if the AM2 memory controller doesn't support it, or does AM2 have support for both and the new AM2 boards just happen to be made with the newer standard, or did ASRock happen to design something that turns out won't ever work? Maybe this explains why nobody can actually buy the upgrade cards?

ASRock Model AM2CPU Bridge Card CPU Upgrade Module contains AM2 940-pin socket, Dual Channel DDRII DIMMs and independent power input

Oh yeah, I knew that but I hadn't looked at the card itself in months. 🙂

So yeah, buy a new CPU now, AND new memory, plus the price of the card, for almost no performance difference. Great value!

I'm looking to buy one of these, I'm cheap and my stuff is ancient, anyone FS? handme down combos FS?
You're reviving old threads on purpose (or without purpose, which may be more accurate),and it is considered spamming. Thread closed.
