pdaNet is an app for the Blackberry, Treo, Android, etc... It uses the USB tether to share your phone internet connection with your PC/Laptop. I just moved and am trying to keep my costs low because a lot of my stuff was stolen during the move when I didn't have insurance.
Anyhow...I got a Droid last month and have my 3G connection on my computer. I'm getting 250kbit down and 350kbit up. (35kb/sec down) It's not too bad for web browsing and moderate iTunes downloading. I'm considering paying $29 for the full version and taking a year or two off from online gaming. (the 3 or 4 titles I didn't throw away were stolen anyway) My job pays for all but $20 of my cellphone bill, so it'll help me justify keeping a data plan if I can double-dip....plus there's always my neighbors' wifi signals...I just don't want to steal bandwidth from them unless I get stuck in a tight spot.
