I have been looking for a cordless slim style keyboard with quiet keys. I'd like to find it locally though but y Best Buy doesn't have any in stock.

Well, I just ordered one so I should know in a few days how it performs.

There is/was (one never knows these days) a place in California that carried quite a few models of HP branded keyboards/mouses/etc. I can't remember the name except I'm pretty sure it had the word "International" in it - I remember I always shortened it to Intl. Haven't bought from them in a while and IDK whether they are still in business. I'll do a search on my own posts here as I used to recommend them a lot as they had a lot of unusual or hard to find parts like Intel CPU retention brackets, etc. Yup, there it was: http://www.centrix-intl.com I believe they operate under several diff. names/websites. You can check them at ResellerRatings, but I always got what I ordered.

I got the HP keyboard in on Wednesday.

I'm not much on in-depth reviews but thought I would post my thoughts.

I ordered from www.provantage.com because they were the cheapest at the time. Now I see that amazon has it for $27.99 shipped.

Definately is thin. If any interest I can take picture of it along side my old logitech wireless keyboard. quality is excellent.

Typing on it feels good. Keys are very quiet just like I wanted. I haven't installed any software so the Function keys do not work at this time. I might install the software one day but I really don't need to.

It does have three volume control buttons on it (Mute, Volume Up, Volume Down). I didn't even notice they were on there when I ordered it. comes in handy. ANd works without installing any software (only tried it in WMP and W7)

The only minor annoyance is the USB dongle illuminates bright blue every time a key is pressed. I first tested it on a USB hub on my desk when I noticed this. It's not a factor for me because I also have a usb hub mounted under my desk so I just moved it there, out of site.

Really not alot else I can think of. Definitely worth $35.xx that I paid if you are looking for a thin, quiet, wireless kb. Would be even better at amazon's current price.

You may be right CTA. I have only had it a very short time and still trying to get use to it. I really don't do alot of typing on it. I did try and use it playing COD:W@W last night and it was a little different. Probably because the layout is different than my old keyboard.

Many years of thought and testing have gone into the design of keyboards both on typewriters at first and then for computers and terminals. Unfortunately, the laptop style, thin, flat keyboards aren't suitable for implementing the culmination of all that research, which is a curved layout (with the home row at the bottom of the curve) of the keys. Go with function over form every time (I should talk, since I'm using a Cherry mini keyboard (G84-4100PPAUS) myself). At least it does serve a function, it puts my trackball right at the end of the home row - little wasted motion....
