Anyone tried Dolphin, the Wii and GC emulator?

I get severe graphics corruption in Metroid Prime with 3 different versions, including the newest, both the GL and D3D9 plugins, and on a 5770 and a 9800GT.

It's supposed to be a smooth emulator, but it's not for me. Has anyone else tried it?

I've used it, but not for that game.
It's still very much a work in progress. You should ask on the dolphin or ngemu forums for an answer instead, you won't find much advice here.

Nope. Only had the GC for a few months and the Wii for a little less than a year. Never owned any games, just rented like mad. I am not thrilled with modern consoles, except maybe the PS2.
I'm still hoping for a proper Playstation and PS2 emulator. Bleem isnt nearly good enough and most of the other suggestions I get are also poor. Nothing seems to work for me. And I'm tired of my crappy PS2 slim always freezing up on me. It also doesnt play Castlevania properly.
May have to get a used PS2 classic from Gamestop or someplace.

Yea, you'd be better off asking on their official forums.

That said, it is a pretty good emulator, considering what its emulating, but it's still got a long way to go until 100%... or even 80% compatibility.

Lament of Innocence or Curse of Darkness? I beat Curse of Darkness back in 2005 for the Xbox, but want to revisit in, except the PS2 version and play it on the PS2 emulator.

Played Zelda Wind Waker on it, it worked fine but it wasn't absolutely 100% there.

As already mentioned, the official forums are awesome for these sort of questions.

Have you tried PCSX2? http://pcsx2.net/

Best Ps2 emulator out there. Played all my games on it (Gran Turismo 4, Tekken 6, FFX, Residant evil and a few others.)

Right now, two emulators are pretty much the best for PS1 games.

ePSXe and pSX. They have their pros and cons. ePSXe is plugin based, and has some really nice plugins that enhance the graphics... but it's more complicated to set up. pSX is extremely easy to use and "just works", but with PS1-level graphics.

There aren't that many games that won't work on these. Just be aware, ePSXe may require some fiddling with the settings, but usually provides the best experience if you get it right.

The graphics arent as good as epsxe, and good luck trying to run it at higher resolutions.
Dual shock doesn't work with my 360pad either.

I downloaded it but haven't tried it. I've read that it won't play games from disks, only ISOs.

Which are you referring to?

At any rate, most will read from disc images. If not, you can always mount them.

The Dolphin emulator, what this topic is about. What did you think I was referring to? Anyway, I've read on the Dolphin forums that it will only play games from ISOs, but not from physical disks.

Well, it doesn't have as many pretty-it-up filters as ePSXe, granted, and I can't remember if it can scale or not (probably not) but it emulates and it emulates best.

That's true, the wii/gamecube disks aren't readable by a pc. A few pc drives can rip the discs, but still can't directly play them.

Even PS2 should be converted to an image first before use (though if you have a fast enough dvd drive, you can use the original disk). Dreamcast disks aren't readable at all.

. Dreamcast disks aren't readable at all.

Is it the drive itself that doesn't understand the disk, or is it just the OS that freaks out about it?

Thanks for the advice guys, but two of those dont work on PS2 games, and the other one is impossible set up and get working correctly.
After a whole day of searching, I finally found out I need my BIOS and I cant figure out how to do it. Found a page of instructions telling me some things, but it uses pictures to describe the details and the pics dont load up anymore.

http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-forum/84994-guide-dump-bios-through-usb.html

In retrospect one of those other emulators I downloaded years ago must have already had a BIOS in the zip file, which is probably not kosher but that happens sometimes.

Most games don't work for me...the ones that do only partially work, usually something really wrong with it making it unplayable. Like the new mario bros., all i can see is scrolling hills and nothing happens. Silent Hill works except some control buttons do not

still a pos imo, until its fixed properly, though it seems most all emulators eventually stop getting supported, which is a shame for some cause theres quite a few with great potential.

I wish there was an Amiga emulator that didnt require loading disk roms for each drive, i hate WUAE

Then you're doing something wrong, you have an old build of the emulator, or you have a crappy computer...

Hmmmmmm.......... :hmm:
Perhaps the same sources that had those emulator packages to begin with?

EDIT:
Completely hypothetical situation here guys, but if I were to somehow see this BIOS somewhere, would it per chance, hypothetically, be 10-15 megabytes?

EDIT 2
HUZZAH! It works.
But there are some issues when starting a new game of FFX-2, and theres no way to get save games off my PS2 memory card and on to the computer. At 33 hours of play time I dont feel like starting over.
So I'll finish this game on the console, look for fixes to the movie issue, and then start the next game on my computer.

For reference: PCsx2 makes it look MUCH better than the TV. I've got Win 7 and a DirectX 11 card so I dont know if that matters or not.
