Anyone treat self improvement media as "entertainment" rather than something that manifest results?

The actual act or reading a book or listen to an audiobook may improve your reading skills or listening skills but that's about it.

I just find it pleasant entertainment. Makes me feel good consuming it but I know by default it isn't meant to produce intended results in itself and should not be taken that seriously

I stay clear of paying for it. That's a rule for me. Lots of good stuff on youtube.

Remembered getting this in HS

These days, Robert Greene has some good stuff.

Listening to an audio book called Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill today.

I knew someone that used to go through a steady stream of self-improvement media, maybe it was a similar thing. It seemed weird to me at the time. He was also waaaay into fancy mechanical pencils.
