Doesn't mcconnell have a low approval rating?

Yes but the Kentucky Democratic party has a weak bench apparently. Kind of like Nevada Republicans and Harry Reid.

I still think it's long odds for Judd because she just fits that Hollywood liberal mold so easily, but I can imagine scenarios where she makes it competitive.

It's not likely but it's not impossible either. Jesse Ventura won a state-wide election and McConnell is not exactly charismatic.

She's 44? i thought she was about 10 years younger. She did well fighting the Ktarians when they tried to take over the Enterprise by making everyone addicted to a game. But on the other hand, she makes rules for everything she does in her life, and that's not something I'd want in a legislator. Progress shouldn't be displayed by how many rules you make, so that's a knock against her.

most likely. She's a magnet for all the low information liberal voters. Like fly's to crap.

I think with what a fucker Toad has been since 2008, anyone has a chance.

She's got name recognition, determination, and probably all kinds of funding from other celebs and Dems that want her fame added to their tent.

I know nothing about her politics other than that she is disgusted with entrenched GOP leadership, and I can't really blame anyone for that. If folks like Franken and Ventura can pull it off...

She doesn't really have a chance here (Kentucky). She's far too left to get much support outside of the urban centers in the state. On the other hand nothing says "Kentucky Senator" like this picture.

You know better than that. Liberals don't like pretty women. She would probably get more conservatives than liberals.

Given how much Congress sucks ass, I think anyone new will garner immediate attention. Whether it sticks depends on her and her positions. What sells at home doesn't always work on the hill.

I honestly don't see the big deal. Franken is a former SNL comic, and has proven himself to be anything but a push over. Ahhhhnold went from movies to governance. DC kept a straight face when we had an AWOLer with a room temperature IQ become Commander in Chief. It's a pliable area.

I don't live in Kentucky (thankfully) so I can't vote for her. But honestly I think you'd have to be so stupid as to be almost unidentifiable as human to vote for Mitch McConnell.

^ that is a fair point if Al Franken can do it then if Ashley Judd isn't a dumbass (like that other candidate who got most of her attention because of looks) then there's a chance.

We really need to know what the situation is 12 months out from Nov. 2014 to have a better idea. So the next few months if Mitch McConnels numbers don't improve by a fair amount he may be in trouble.

I wish rarity like that were involved, but we live in a world of hyper-partisan and single issue voters.

Fuck.

Seriously, I think it takes a special kind of asshole to filibuster his own bill.
I hope Kentuckians of all stripes show his belligerent and obstructionist ass the door.

We dont need more people like her and their views. Kentucky needs to get rid of mcconnell and get another Rand Paul type to replace him

:hmm: I've seen McConnell make deals to betray conservatism. Under my protest principle I'd go third party or even vote for her - though she is my enemy at least she doesn't claim to represent me. He does, and that makes him a bigger "target".

I urge the people of KY to remove Mitch McConnell.
