I was wondering, how many credits is AP European History good for? It seems to me that it would fulfill both Western Civ. I and II, but I can't really say. AP American History is probably similar with pre then post-Civil War era. Anyone know?

AP classes....
Worthless when you get to college. Its good if you get a 4 or whatever on the test, but come on... Enjoy HS before you get to college.

With 6 months invested and only 2 more to go, I think I'll stick it out ;) You need a 3 to get the college credit, I'll get a 4 probably. What's to enjoy so much about high school anyway?

I'm in AP European History right now and am very much enjoying the class, I'll be taking the AP test in May or whenever it's given. I got a 4 on the AP US History one last year. Even so I second guess myself for taking these tests, I will not be majoring in history and I don't know what these will really get me unless I can make sophomore standing..

Advanced Placement history. A high-level class one takes in high school to obtain college credit and HS credit. There are only 2 classes i know of, AP American, and AP European.

I took AP US History, aced the class, but got a three or something on the test. It was 8 or 9 years ago, so I don't remember off hand. I do remember what good it did me in college - none, zip, nothing. At least in high school it gave me a class that was easy to blow off - I'm not sure if I even cracked the book open but maybe that is why I got a 3. BTW I was a history major in college and did quite well.

I took AP US History 6 years ago in HS. I got a 5 on the test, and got 6 credits of history (US History before the Civil War and US History after the Civil War). It was the best dollar for dollar investment I made in high school. I don't know much about the AP European History test. It also depends on what college you are applying to. That is something very important to keep in mind if you need to break a tie between two schools.

UofI- Yeah, I'm going to have to sorta disagree with you on that one... Yeah... Seriously though, I think that AP classes are really worth a person's time if they can't test out of requirements. I am an engineer, and I didn't really want to take my liberal arts and sciences electives. I was actually able to test out of 9 out of 12 credits. So, AP classes in areas outside your planned field of study can be very useful. I also got out of 3 credits of english, and thanks to two summer classes I took, I got out of 6 more credits. Effectively I got out of 18 hours (a very full semester) of classes, which was very much worth my time.

I enjoyed the class mostly because I didn't have to deal with the idiots in the lower level classes. Good discussions, but the terrible AP US History 1 teacher didn't prepare us well, so I got a 3.

Had both US and European, didn't do me any good. APs are only good at my place for general electives or fulfilling requirements outisde your major. And since I'm planning a history major, no use for me.

I took AP US History in HS, got a 4 on the test and received 3 credits to partially fulfill the general humanities requirement at Penn State.

I got a 3 on the american and european history tests. That's good for 6 credits a piece at my school, not to mention that it looks good on application that you were in them and it helps your GPA.

I'll be (eventually) an engineering major, so it would be taking up elective credits for me as well. Man, some of you are taking these classes as sophmores. My (small) school you can only take college level courses as a senior. And even then we only have Comm. College, PreCalc, Pysch, Soc, AP Euro, and AP/C.C. Calc, and mabey some art or foriegn language class.

That's what I like to hear :) If I can score out of my 6 history elective credits (West Civ. I and II), then it will definitly be worth it.
