Anyone taken the GRE test recently?

Just wondering what anyone's thoughts and experiences are about the GRE. I'm scheduled to take it in a month, and signed up for the computer based testing. About to go buy a GRE book, but not sure if that is going to do anything or end up a waste of $40 or so.
