I had the insides of both of my big toes operated on to eliminate in grow toenails.

Then in Boot Camp I got another one (on the outside this time). The "Corpsman" sprayed bacteen on it till it was FROZEN, took a scalpel and sliced into my toenail about a 1/4 inch from the edge and then RIPPED IT OUT BY THE ROOTS!

Needless to say, I NEVER went back to get "THAT" treatment again. Since then I have always just done it myself with a Exacto knife and some hemostats. (At least I can tell when it's gone too far!! And I have NEVER made myself bleed like that butcher did.)

I've had that done several times (not by a butcher). They always shot me up with lidocaine. They use the cold spray to de-sensitize the area before they stick the needle in.

I guess it affects everyone differently. Hydrocodone (10mg) is quite long-lasting for me...I can take one early in the morning and have much reduced pain all day (and it makes me very happy). Unfortunately, I can't sleep that night. And there's the little bit of nausea.

And I'm not a small guy - 6'0", 190 lb.

I hope you got that checked out by the VA as part of your outprocessing. My guess is that would be a ratable disability.

I'm surprised people take it to sleep - 10mg of hydrocodone to kill my neck pain and I'm an insomniac.
