Anyone take Photography in HS

If so, WTF did you do in it?

Learned about operating a camera (metering, setting exposure times/aperture, good composition, different types of photographs, films, paper).
Learned about processing film.
Learned about printing in the darkroom.

Final project was a checklist of different photographic concepts (high angle, low angle, backlit, etc) and you had to take a picture that illustrates each one.

And the best part was that all film, paper and chems were included at no cost.

It was one of the best classes I ever took.

You get to walk around school while everyone else is in class and take pictures. You also get to learn a little about B/W photography.

I took it in university. I learned a lot of the basics of photography. When I began I had no idea what things like F-stops and focal points were. We did all of our photography on black & white film and developed our own photos using some ancient enlargers & chemicals. This was back in '99. The dark room was the best. That course was a lot of fun - I highly recommend anything like it.

The first project we had was a pinhole camera and B&W photopaper development process, then basic SLR operation, film loading, film development, a few basic assignments. Tons of fun. Montgomery County Maryland public school > any school in Alabama. I'm glad we moved. 😀

I never actually learned about f-stops really because most of the ppl in the class had to borrow sh!tty P&S cameras. We DID learn about composition, developing film and making prints (all B&W). Was quite fun though I really slacked off my 2nd semester and got a C😛

3 classes

1st class was learning exposure , processing, and development

2nd and 3rd class was 90% free time... basically do whatever you want and turn in 1 photo per week

Well, my HS offers digital photography, and having a digital camera is easier as you don't have to scan in the pictures. It does have to be a SLR, though.

yeah this is the truth. It was a blast working in a darkroom and watching your pitches 'come to life' as it was.

Well first figure out if you can even use a digital. Most likely you can't.
