Anyone take chemistry?

I'm just getting ready to install my new liquid cooling unit and i had an idea. I remember in high school chemistry class they showed us that boiled water will freeze faster than water that hasn't been boiled because during the boiling process the oxygen is removed from the water. If the freezing points are the same on both this must mean that boiled water conducts heat better. I'm not sure just how much better but it might be worth looking into. I'm boiling my water now. If anyone has any input or opinions on the subject i'd be interested in hearing about it. Who knows, if it conducted heat even 5% better this could be a big deal.

Water is already a great conductor of heat. I think the most feasible step beyond water cooling would be chilled water or phase change. Additives and/or other materials that may conduct heat better probably have much higher viscosity and would not be easy to implement and may not offer better performance.

You're probably using distilled water in your system (I sure hope you are), and distilled water has already been boiled. Just fill 'er up.

Actually i forgot to get distilled water today so i boiled and filtered some tap water. I wouldn't normally recommend tap water either but ilive in a rain forest and our tap water is some of the cleanest in the world already.

On another note: I've been thinking about liquid oxygen systems lately. Do they even exist? Seems like it might be extremely efficiant although granted a little dangerousl.

Alaskan rain forest huh? 😛

Yup. The largest in America. The Tongass.
