I'm having some really bad back pain (been 2mos now). Just had an MRI but have to wait 2 more weeks to see the orthapedist again. I have been using naproxen but I have a bottle of filled Celebrex caps from another doc I never used. Someone told me they swear by Celebrex for back pain. Anyone ever take it? Naproxen is OK but doesn't help much.

My dad took it for his back pain for a while up until a couple of years ago when he decided to quit going to the chiropractor and saw an orthapedist (I think, musculo-skeletal-something-or-other) who basically "fixed" it in a few minutes.

He says the pain still comes back bad every now and then when he pushes himself too hard at work, but he doesn't take Celebrex anymore because he finds it works too well. It would get rid of all pain and discomfort in his back so he would worry about pushing himself too far.

So basically, he doesn't take it anymore because it works too well. The pain he got from his back on some days would be so bad he couldn't move, but he could just take some Celebrex and be back to work right away.

I did take 1 yesterday and I didn't notice too much difference. I might give it another shot. My concern is that it's an NSAID but one that's in that group that can put people at risk of higher incidence of heart attack and I have hypertension.

I tried it for back pain and had to quit pretty quickly, it's the only drug I've ever taken that led to severe side effects. I got incredibly intense abdominal pain to the point where I could barely stand up or move.

I took it for ~8 years until the Ins. Co. removed it from the approved meds.

Worked well for me. My doc told me it can take up to 3 days of continuous use before the full effect is reached. Only took 2 days for me though.

It didn't help me much. I was taking Viox, which worked well, until they banned it. My friend swears by it though. He couldn't get out of bed most mornings if he didn't take his Celebrex.

I'm not sure exactly what the problem was, but it was something like there was a disc out of place. The chiropractor just didn't see it I guess. He says it still goes out from time to time but he just goes back to the doctor and he fixes it again.

I might have to give it another shot because I'm crooked right now and in quite a lot of pain. My back pain is chronic- had surgery when I was 24, I'm 43 now and I swear I hope I don't need it again. I usually get bouts of pain but they last short-term and go away, this time it's been two months and I'm getting concerned.

Of course the doc doesn't give two-shits and is off playing golf in Fl while I'm here in agony. This was my regular back guy mind you, and I only saw him for 5mins before he sent me off for the MRI, and now it's 2weeks more to wait for results (which I have the discs right in my hands).
