I have a terrible allergy to grass and tree pollen. I have tried many different products.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried anything that seems to help.

Thanks

There is NO WAY that all of that is good for you.

if you need something that strong, then take benadryl instead.

I find it to be WAY stronger than clartin (I have tried 2 clartin / 2 allegra, and it really doesn't do much for me). Try taking 2-3 every 4 hours instead of all the stuff you are taking now.

(It might make you sleepy, other than that it should work way better)

I've posted many times on allergy relief, and I am very allergic to pollen, especially ragweed. Of course this works well for me, I've tried many different things.

Eyes: OTC Naphcon A eyedrops

The nasal spary Astelin (prescrip) is incredible. It makes a huge difference!

Singulair (prescrip) - non drowsy.

I've tried claritin, zyrtec and allegra. Zyrtec is the best of these, but causes drowsiness. All in all, these don't work very well for me. The combination of the Naphcon, Astelin and Singulair is really effective (for me). Worth a try perhaps. :)

Try something homeopathic maybe? A friend of mine who has Asthma and has very bad hayfever tried something homeopathic(he's immune to Zyrtec and that stuff) and it worked wonders :)

none of that seems to sedate me...I actually wired when I take it. I shake and have small tremors but I'm not sleepy. That isn't the best way to say it, I am tired but I can't sleep.

Thank you for that suggestion ndee. I actually tried several homeopathic/alternative/holistic remedies, sadly without any improvement.

Hello yellofiero. I have been looking into Singulair after writing to others that have given it a try. What were/are your worst sypmtoms that are being helped by your combination?

Are you seeing an allergist? Have you found out specifically what you are most allergic to?

You need to see an allergist, so they can target the drugs to your specific allergies.

I took Zertec for 3 days, and I was a Zombie the entire time. The only thing I can take is Advil Allergy/Sinus, and alleviate the pain. Otherwise, I'm in space for a day or two.

I had terribly itchy eyes, and sometimes they would swell shut (if real bad). My sinuses were inflamed and itchy, and ragweed makes be sneeze a lot. Very miserable. I have never had asthma, no chest inflammation to speak of. Sometimes the insides of my ear canals were itchy too. HTH.

I see an allergist and found that I am very sensitive to tree and grass pollens.

Believe it or not during the tree/grass season I am nearly incapacitated by my allergies. My worse symtpom is itchy, swollen eyes (like yellowfiero).

I hope that if I can get a prescription for Singulair it will help me too.

yellowfiero, how long have you been using Singulair?

I live in Iowa...I see you live in Michigan. When is the worst part of the year for you? For me, it is May and June. My ragweed sensitivity is not nearly as bad as yours.

Do you use the medicine combination you mentioned year-'round?

Thanks!

I consider the nasal spray the most effective of the three, if I was stranded and had only one choice, that would be it.

I use the medicine only when I feel the allergies coming on, not year round. So right now I use them, and then it will taper off during the summer, and then I'll use them again at the end of August through the first frost (ragweed season).

I started Singulair and Astelin for the first time during ragweed season last year. I had been using the Naphcon for a couple of years, and it is the best eye drops I've ever tried.

Really though, make sure you don't put 100% of your trust into just the Singulair, the nasal spray is really the biggest part IMO.

HTH.

last week i immediatly knew when the farmers were cutting the alapha hay. i started sneezing and my eyes itched so bad i couldnt stand it.

Allegra D is the best thing for me. I tried benadryl and if i even cut it in half I am out like a light and feel hung over after i wake up from the benadryll coma.

Is Naphcon OTC or prescription?

My gf gets really bad allergies, and she takes Reactine...

my allergies aren't too bad most days, so I don't take any meds and just grind it out (I dont like taking meds when I dont have to)...

rnmcd,

Go easy on the allergy medication. My aunt has allergies and she was taking something everyday, and it eventually lead to hypertension and a stroke. She would take benedryl, then claritin, then allerist.

Try consuming local honey once a day. Local, not out of county or out of state. I haven't tried it myself, but hear it works good. I have pretty much the same allergies as you, an claritin or allegra seems to work alright, with some Panatol for eyedrops. I only take it when I really need it. I know that I will probably never breathe clearly in my life, so some irritation is better than an eventual stroke.
