Anyone take anything for hairloss?

I'm going bald....

Do you take anything for your baldness? Shaving my head is not an option...I will buy a wig before that.

Thanks.

I was just about to ask this question. I am going bald too. Nothing very noticable, but lot of hair has falled off in the last week.

I've been using Rogaine, but it doesn't seem to work too well. That spot keeps getting thinner and thinner...and I don't remember my widow's peak being so pronounced.

Honestly, there's not much you can do about it. Propecia may work, but can have funky sexual side effects since you're messing around with your dihydrotestosterone levels. A full head of hair and a limp willy isn't a good tradeoff IMO.

Propecia has worked well for me. I did see some loss of libido for the first month or so I was on it. But after a month everything went back to normal for me.

I heard its like that in most cases. After your body adjusts to it the sexual side effects often go away.

😀 wise words

Use search for current and archive threads on "bald" "balding" there were a couple of long threads on this earlier this year.

Short answer: hair plugs work for $6-10K, nothing else gives you more than maybe some peach fuzz (plus wierd side effects like thinner blood) and the pilll / cream costs you $20-50/month forever.

So go for the Vin Diesel or Cap'n Picard look, it's your choice!

I started loosing my hair 3 years ago. I wasn't thrilled about it but I refused to spend tons of money on something that wasn't meant to be. Instead I just decided to hit the gym on a very regular basis. Makes me feel good and shifts the focus from my head. People never say "gee sorry about your hair loss". What I hear is "wow you look great". And they aren't referring to my hair. I miss my hair, but no one esle does.

It is a trade off that I am willing to make if I heard that more people had success with Propecia. Most of the threads that I read say that people get the side effects...but don't get any hair regrowth.

Yeah, but how old were all of you guys when you started losing your hair? I started going bald at 18/19. I expected to at least have a full head of hair through my 20's...

Good plan, I did the same thing.

I started losing my hair at around 20.

Now I dont shave it, but I do cut it really really short (no guard on the clippers) I think it looks OK, my wife digs it, and every girls wants to rub her hand through it 🙂

Every now and again some ass will say something smart about my hairloss, I just reply, " Thank you for ridiculing my slight genetic defects, can I start making fun of yours now?"

<-- 23 years old, started losing when i was 20ish. i'm taking rogaine and propecia and i've noticed a significant difference... i don't have severe hair loss, just a "higher" forehead and slightly thinning hair on the front. but after 5 months of propecia, my sex drive is quite alright, thanks 🙂

Most of them were started by this guy. Do a search on his name, he uses this place like his own personal tech support forum for every damned insignificant decision in his life. Pretty sad.

What the hell? Is this common? I didn't think that we were supposed to start losing our hair when we are 20.

So what is the significant difference that you have noticed? Is it a positive difference?

I think the idea of going to the gym to get built is probably the best advice. I don't think too many people make fun of Goldberg and his bald ass!

I started losing my hair in my very early 20's and it has taken quite a few years to progress as I am now 35. I have(had) thick flowing blonde locks that would make any 80's glam rocker jealous! It really didn't bother me too much as my dad is bald as a billiard and I knew it would just be a matter of time before I started to lose my hair. Over time I am slowly beginning to look like a monk but at least my hairline is not receding a la Luke Perry.

I say don't worry about it so much as I have never had a chic turn me down because of my hair or lack thereof and if she is that superficial where hair matters that much to her, you're better off without her.
